Frequently asked questions
Can the Fisher F75 find gold? Gold jewelry, yes, and Fisher itself markets the F75 to prospectors: 13 kHz with Motion All-Metal mode will hit larger nuggets in reasonable ground. But it has no dedicated gold mode, and for the small gold that makes up most nugget country, Fisher's real answer is the Gold Bug 2 at 71 kHz, the machine built for exactly that job.
F75, F75+, or F75 LTD? All three share the 13 kHz platform, the balance, and the coil ecosystem. The F75+ adds the Boost process for extra depth. The LTD adds Boost plus the Cache process for large deep targets. Buy the base F75 for classic sites and all-day comfort; step up if your targets are deep, masked, or few and far between.
Is the F75 waterproof? The coil is fully waterproof, so creek edges and wet grass are no problem. The control housing is not submersible, so this is not a diving machine; for underwater work look at Fisher's dedicated underwater detectors.
How long do batteries last? About 40 hours on four quality alkaline AAs, and roughly double that on nickel oxyhydroxide cells. Batteries are not included, which we would rather tell you now than let the box surprise you.
