Compare: XP Backpack 240 vs XP Backpack 280
The short answer: buy the XP Backpack 240 if you carry one detector on day trips and want the lightest organized pack XP makes. Buy the XP Backpack 280 if you carry a multi-machine or full-day kit, hunt in serious weather, or want MOLLE webbing to build out your carry system. Both are genuine XP packs designed around the same detectors; the difference is mission, not quality.

Which one do you need?
Choose the 240 when the whole kit is one detector, a pinpointer, a spare search coil and a bottle. At 1.5 lb / 700 g it weighs about a third of the 280, and everything still gets a dedicated place. It is the right first pack for a new detectorist and the right travel pack for anyone.
Choose the 280 when you carry more than one machine, swing all day away from the truck, or hunt where the weather turns. The included rain cover, the two-compartment layout, the icon-marked pockets and the hip-belt load transfer are built for exactly that trip. The MOLLE webbing means the pack grows with your kit instead of being replaced by it.
Already know you want the pouch too? The Backpack 280 + Finds Pouch kit is the factory package of the 280 with the belt-mounted XP Finds Pouch, under one part number.
Still deciding?
Call us at 256-284-2247 and tell us what you swing and where you hunt. We carry both packs and we will point you at the right one for your kit, not the bigger receipt. The gear carries the tools; the tools find the targets; and the story is more important than the artifact.
