The SDC 2300's stock coil is good, but it is not built for the small stuff in tight ground. This is the coil that goes back for the flecks.
The Minelab SDC 2300 is a superb little pulse-induction gold machine, and the Coiltek 10x5" Gold Extreme sharpens it for the ground its stock coil struggles with. At 10 x 5 in / 250 x 125 mm it is the smallest coil in the Gold Extreme series, a narrow elliptical mono loop with high sensitivity to small gold and good depth for its size. Its compact shape is the point: it slips into overgrown, tight terrain where a bigger coil cannot swing, and at 545 g / 19.2 oz it is light and easy to manoeuvre all day.
Why the 10x5"
The three Gold Extreme coils each solve a different problem. The 11" round is the depth-and-coverage coil, and the 14x9" elliptical has the best ground coverage in the series. The 10x5" is the finesse tool: the one to reach for when the gold is small, the ground is tight or overgrown, and sensitivity matters more than covering acres. It is the coil for detailing a known patch and chasing the sub-gram gold the stock coil sweeps over.
Mono is the point. On mineralized gold ground a mono loop runs hot and holds its sensitivity to small gold. It comes with a skid plate attached from the factory and a 2-year Coiltek warranty. One thing to know before you buy: to fit any Gold Extreme coil to the SDC 2300 you need the Coiltek Gold Extreme Accessories Pack (a one-time purchase). If you do not already have it fitted to your Minelab SDC 2300, add the pack with this coil.
