Description
The stock GPX 6000 coils find gold. This one goes after the flecks they swing past.
At a glance
The Coiltek 10x5" Gold Hawk is the smallest, most sensitive coil in the Gold Hawk series for the Minelab GPX 6000: a 244 x 140 mm / 10 x 5 in mono loop, 575 g / 20.3 oz, waterproof to 1 m / 3 ft, with an attached skid plate. Built to chase small gold in tight, rocky, mineralized ground where a big round coil cannot swing. 2-year Coiltek warranty.
Built for small gold in tight ground
Every gold coil is a trade between coverage and sensitivity, and the 10x5" Gold Hawk is built all the way toward sensitivity. Its narrow elliptical mono profile concentrates the GPX 6000's pulse into a small, hot footprint that lights up on sub-gram gold and specimen pieces a larger round coil sweeps right over. When the ground gets tight, around boulders, down washes, along bedrock crevices, and through scrubby brush, the compact shape goes where a big coil physically cannot.
Mono loop is the point. On the mineralized, ironstone-heavy ground that gold lives in, a mono coil runs hotter and more sensitive than a Double-D, and the Gold Hawk pairs that with Coiltek's build: waterproof to 1 m / 3 ft for creek and wash work, an attached skid plate so it survives the rocks it was made to hunt, and 575 g / 20.3 oz of well-balanced weight for all-day swinging. It is the smallest of the three GPX 6000 Gold Hawk coils (10x5", 9", and 14x9"), the one you reach for when you have found the patch and need to clean out the small gold the stock coils left behind.
Fits the Minelab GPX 6000 only. It comes with its skid plate attached and a 2-year Coiltek warranty.
Field proven by History Seekers
We do not just sell this coil, we hunt with it. History Seekers owner Heath Jones runs this exact 10x5" Gold Hawk on his Minelab GPX 6000 for small gold in North Carolina, where it has recovered pieces as small as 0.09 gram from over 2.5 in / 6 cm deep. The scale photo of that find is on our GPX 6000 listing, the detector this coil is built for. When you call (256) 284-2247 with a question about it, you are talking to the person who swings it.
One more thing worth knowing about who you are buying from. History Seekers is a small American business, not a big box retailer where nobody on staff has ever swung a detector, and not a warehouse that just moves boxes. Everyone here detects, from the top down: gold, relics, coins, jewelry, even float copper. Years of field experience before hire is not a coincidence, it is a requirement. The person who answers your questions may be the same one who packs your order and drives it to the UPS drop-off, and every purchase keeps everyday Americans working.
The story is more important than the artifact.
