Description
Brush country eats headphones. Every exposed knob, switch, and cable loop on your head is a handle for a branch to grab, and one good yank can end a relic hunt two miles from the truck. The Gray Ghost Deep Woods Platinum is DetectorPro's answer for the die-hard relic hunter: a Gray Ghost with no exterior controls, no exposed metal, rainproofing, and nothing on the outside for the woods to catch.
At a glance
The Gray Ghost Deep Woods Platinum is a wired metal detector headphone with a snag-free rainproof exterior, compatibility and volume-limiter switches protected inside the ear cup, DetectorPro's top-line platinum speakers, a 48 in (122 cm) coiled cord with a 1/4 in (6.35 mm) 90 degree stereo angle plug, 150 ohm nominal impedance, and up to 24 dB of ambient noise blocking. Built in the USA.
Why the Deep Woods for thick cover
Inside the Gray Ghost family the split is simple: the Ultimate puts its two toggles and volume knob on the outside where they are fastest to reach; the Deep Woods moves the same compatibility and limiter switches INSIDE the cup where they are totally protected, and seals the outside against rain and branches. Like the Ultimate, the cable is protected by an industrial nylon 6/6 strain relief placed to run the cord along your neck, away from reaching limbs. And this is the Platinum build: DetectorPro's top-of-the-line platinum speakers are standard in the current Deep Woods at the maker's standard list price. Several dealer pages still describe and price the older standard-speaker version; what we stock and describe is the current platinum-speaker unit from the manufacturer's own page.

Set it in the truck, forget it in the woods
The inside-the-cup switch layout assumes how relic hunters actually work: you set detector compatibility once for your machine, decide whether you want the limiter, close the cup, and from then on the headphone is a sealed unit. Rain does not stop the hunt, greenbriar does not find a toggle to flip, and the limiter circuit needs no batteries to protect your ears from a surface shotgun shell screaming at full volume.
