Description
A month of research, a two-mile hike to the cellar hole, power on: silence, because a branch yanked your headphone cord yesterday. That scenario is the entire reason the Gray Ghost NDT exists. NDT means "No Down Time": a Gray Ghost with a rugged detachable cord on a high-quality locking connector, and DetectorPro puts TWO complete cords in the box. The cable is the part of any wired headphone that dies first; the NDT is the only Gray Ghost where that failure costs you thirty seconds instead of the hunt.
At a glance
The Gray Ghost NDT is a wired metal detector headphone with a detachable locking-connector cord system and two included 48 in (122 cm) coiled cords with 1/4 in (6.35 mm) plugs, dual click-position rotary volume controls, a detector-compatibility selector switch, 150 ohm nominal impedance, and up to 24 dB of ambient noise blocking. Built in the USA.
Why the NDT over the other Gray Ghosts
The Original Gray Ghost is the value classic and the Ultimate is the flagship speaker package, but both have one permanently attached cord. The NDT is built on the Original's foundation with the failure point engineered out: a locking connector that holds under field strain but detaches on purpose, plus a complete spare cord so the backup is in your pouch, not on backorder. It also carries DUAL rotary volume controls, one per ear, with stay-put click positioning. If a serious hunt day is worth two cords to you, this is the one; the premium over the Ultimate is small.

The backup argument, honestly priced
Do the math the way a relic hunter does. Any quality wired headphone plus a second full spare cable, sold separately, would pass the NDT's price if the maker even offered spare cables at retail; most do not, which is how a $2 cable failure retires a $100 headphone. The NDT's two-cord box means the spare rides along on day one. Dealers all quote the maker's same paragraph on this; the practical point they skip is that the locking connector also protects the jack end, because a snagged cord releases strain at the muff instead of levering your detector's headphone socket.
