Description

Garrett's detecting gloves in three sizes, Medium, Large, and X-Large, with touchscreen fingertips. Every detectorist has done the dance: target in the hole, phone in the pocket, one glove off to photograph the find or check a map, glove back on, repeat at the next signal. Garrett built this glove so the glove stays on. The thumb, index finger, and middle finger of each hand work a phone screen, the palm and knuckles carry foam padding for the digging, and a Garrett hook-and-loop tab locks the wrist.

At a glance

Garrett Detecting Gloves, part numbers 1628101 (Medium), 1628102 (Large), and 1628103 (X-Large). Olive green and black. Touchscreen-capable thumb, index, and middle finger on each glove; foam padding at the palm and knuckles; cut and scratch protection for the fingers; Garrett-branded hook-and-loop closure. Genuine Garrett accessory, sold by History Seekers, an authorized Garrett dealer, and drop-shipped from Garrett's warehouse in Texas.

Why these gloves

Garrett lists four things this glove does, and each one maps to a moment in the field. The touchscreen fingertips are for the photograph, the GPS pin, and the text to your hunting partner, none of which should cost you a glove. The foam padding at the palm and knuckles is for the fiftieth plug of the day, when the shovel handle and the rocks in the fill have started to bruise. The cut and scratch protection is for what lives in the dirt: glass, can slaw, rusted iron, and the roots you tear through to reach a deep signal. And the hook-and-loop wrist tab is what keeps grit out of the cuff and the glove on your hand when it is wet.

Why Garrett's rather than a generic touchscreen work glove: the sizing. Garrett sells this glove in three real sizes with a part number for each, so a Medium hand is not swimming in a one-size glove. Garrett also states plainly what the glove is not: it gives some warmth, but it is not built for very cold weather. For a frozen-ground hunt, layer a liner under it.

Why three sizes matter for the fit: other dealers report this glove runs snug, and recommend going up a size if you like a looser fit. We carry all three, so the choice is yours at the size picker. It is the same glove we pack into the Adventure Archaeology Garrett Vortex VX9 package, where the size is chosen the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Which size should I order? Garrett offers Medium, Large, and X-Large. Other dealers report the fit runs snug, so if you are between sizes or like room for a liner, go up one size. Call 256-284-2247 with your usual work-glove size and we will tell you which part number to pick.

Which fingers work a touchscreen? The thumb, index finger, and middle finger of each glove, per Garrett. That is enough to shoot a photo, drop a pin, and answer a text without taking the glove off.

Are they warm enough for winter? Garrett says they provide some warmth but are not designed for very cold weather. They are a three-season digging glove; add a liner for frozen ground.

Is this the same as Garrett's new one-size glove? No. Garrett has also introduced a one-size-fits-most glove, part 1635900, which is a different, unpadded design. This listing is the sized, foam-padded, touchscreen Detecting Glove, parts 1628101 through 1628103.

What colour will I receive? Olive green with black palms and fingertips, as in Garrett's photo. Garrett's dealers note the colour may vary slightly between production runs.

Are these the gloves in the Adventure Archaeology Vortex package? Yes. The Vortex VX9 package includes a pair in the size you choose; this listing is the gloves on their own, and they pair with the Garrett Camo Diggers Pouch for the rest of the recovery kit.
