Description

Ask anyone who runs two coils on a Minelab Manticore what the worst part of their hunt is, and it is never the digging. It is standing at the tailgate unbolting a coil, rethreading the yoke hardware, and hoping the wing nut seats right while daylight burns. The Minelab Manticore Carbon Fiber Lower Shaft Assembly (part 3011-0481) ends that ritual: keep a second coil permanently mounted on its own genuine lower shaft, and switching setups becomes a seconds-long camlock swap instead of a roadside repair session.

At a glance

Genuine Minelab carbon fiber lower shaft for the Manticore, part 3011-0481, UPC 811493019116. The same lower section the Manticore ships with, sold separately as a spare or as a dedicated shaft for a second search coil. Fits the Minelab Manticore only. Sold by History Seekers, an authorized Minelab dealer.

Why a second lower shaft is the Manticore upgrade nobody talks about

The Manticore's three-piece carbon fiber shaft collapses fast and locks solid, and its coil hardware is designed to stay put once torqued. That is exactly why constantly swapping coils on ONE lower shaft works against the machine: every swap loosens and re-seats the same hardware, wears the same yoke ends, and invites the one failure you cannot fix in the field. Detectorists running the M8 sniper coil for iron-choked homesites alongside the stock M11, or stepping up to the M15 for open ground, solve it the simple way: one lower shaft per coil, pre-mounted, pre-torqued, ready. That is the multiple coil setup the serious Manticore crowd runs, and it is why this part sells as a replacement lower shaft AND as a workflow upgrade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this lower shaft fit my Equinox or X-Terra?

No. This is the Manticore lower shaft only. Minelab builds platform-specific lower shafts, and the Equinox 700/900, X-Terra, and Vanquish each use their own part. If you swing a Manticore, this is your shaft; if not, it will not fit.

Why would I buy a lower shaft when my Manticore came with one?

Two reasons we see daily. First, the multi-coil workflow: mount your second coil on its own shaft and switch coils in seconds instead of unbolting hardware in the field. Second, insurance: on a machine you may wade, travel, and dig hard with for years, a spare for the part that takes the most abuse is cheap peace of mind.

Is this a genuine Minelab part?

Yes. Part 3011-0481 straight from Minelab's accessory line, sold by History Seekers as an authorized Minelab dealer, at Minelab's approved price.

Which coils can I run on it?

Any genuine Manticore coil: the included M11, the M8 8 x 5.5 in (20 x 14 cm) sniper, the M9 9 in (23 cm), or the M15 15 x 12 in (38 x 30 cm) deep-seeker. One shaft per coil is the setup that makes coil choice a ten-second decision instead of a project.

Every History Seekers order is packed by people who actually swing these machines. We run Manticores on our own hunts, we know which parts earn their keep, and this one does. The story is more important than the artifact.
