Description
In iron-infested ground the T2's big coil buries the good target under the trash beside it. The 5 inch Double-D is the answer: a tight detection field that separates a keeper from the nail an inch away and reaches the spots the stock coil skips.
At a glance: This is the genuine Teknetics 5 in / 13 cm Double-D search coil for the T2 and T2 Special Edition, with the First Texas screw-in connector. It is the small coil for trashy, iron-infested ground and tight spaces, resolving close targets the T2's larger coils blur into one signal.
Genuine First Texas, in stock
This is the genuine First Texas Teknetics part 5COIL-T2, not an aftermarket copy. It is the 5 in / 13 cm Double-D search coil built for the machines listed below, and we stock it. Some sellers list only third-party coils for this platform or price the factory part well above ours; we carry the real coil at the manufacturer's advertised price. New to coils? Our Search Coil Buying Guide walks through size and Double-D versus concentric before you choose.
Which detectors does it fit?
This coil fits the Teknetics T2 series on the screw-in connector. This coil is compatible with: Teknetics T2, Teknetics T2 Special Edition.
It fits the T2 and the T2 Special Edition. It is cataloged for the T2 platform only; we do not claim Fisher F75 fit pending First Texas confirmation of interchange.
Why the 5 in Double-D coil
A small search coil concentrates its field into a tight footprint, which is exactly what the T2's toughest sites demand: iron-infested homesites, old foundations and dense-trash parks. Where the T2's standard coil reads a good coin and a rusty nail as one blurred signal, the 5 inch Double-D resolves them as two, so you dig the keeper and leave the trash. It reaches tight places too, along fence lines and into foundation corners, and its Double-D winding stays stable in mineralized soil. The trade-off is coverage and raw depth on open ground, where the 11, 12 and 15 inch coils take over.

Frequently asked questions
Will this coil fit my detector? It fits the Teknetics T2 and T2 Special Edition, which use the First Texas screw-in connector.
How is this size different from the others? Choose the 5 inch for trashy sites, tight spaces and target separation. Step up to the 8 inch bi-axial for everyday hunting, the 11 or 12 inch Double-D for depth, or the 15 inch for the deepest open-ground coverage.
Double-D or concentric, does it matter? This is a Double-D coil. Its overlapping D-shaped windings reject ground mineralization and run smoother than a concentric coil in the hot soil the T2 was built for, with a pattern that is easy to pinpoint along.
Is it waterproof? First Texas search coils are submersible; keep the control housing dry. For a verified depth rating on your exact machine, call us and we will confirm before you hunt water.
History Seekers is a small American business and an authorized First Texas dealer (Fisher, Teknetics and Bounty Hunter are one El Paso company). Everyone here detects, top down, for coins, relics, jewelry and gold, and prior field experience is a hiring requirement, not a coincidence. The person who answers your fitment question may be the one who packs the coil and drives it to the UPS drop. The story is more important than the artifact.
