Description

The distance between wanting to pan for gold and actually doing it is usually one box. The XP Gold Pan Starter Kit is that box: a full-size pan, a classifier to screen your material, and the small accessories that get color out of the pan and into a vial. Nothing else to buy, nothing to figure out first.

Why this kit

Most cheap starter kits are a pan and a bag of trinkets. This one gives you the two pieces that actually decide whether you find gold: a classifier, so you are panning gold-bearing gravel instead of wrestling rocks, and a full 37 cm (15 in) working pan rather than a toy. XP's pans use a "snake skin" texture in place of the smooth sandy zone found on conventional pans, which grips fine gold at the finishing stage where it is most often lost, and they are molded in blue because blue sits opposite yellow on the color wheel and makes color easier to see.

What each piece does

XP Gold Pan 37 cm (15 in) The all-rounder. Four panning zones: large 90 degree riffles for the first clearing, mini riffles to separate gold dust from sand, the snake skin texture for finishing, and a wide flat base.
XP Gold Classifier #10, 37 cm (15 in) A 10 mm mesh that sifts out the large rock fast, leaving only material that may actually hold gold. It stacks straight onto the pan.
XP Gold Accessories 150 ml (5.07 oz) suction bottle, pipette, vial, 2 mini tubes and a magnifier. Collect it, inspect it, store it.
Stackable design Pan and classifier nest together, so the whole kit travels as one compact, lightweight unit.

Starter or Premium?

Honest answer: the Starter Kit has one pan and one classifier. The XP Gold Pan Premium Kit adds a second pan, the 27 cm (11 in) finishing pan, and a second classifier, the finer #5, which stacks under the #10 so one pass sieves twice. Start here if you want the cheapest honest way into panning. Step up to the Premium if you already know you want a dedicated finishing pan and the two-stage sieve.

Who it is for

First-time panners who want to learn on real equipment. Detectorists who want to sample a creek before committing a day to it. Anyone buying a gift for someone who keeps talking about gold.

Where this fits

Panning is the skill everything else in prospecting rests on: learn to read a pan and you will understand what any machine is doing for you. Our Gold Recovery Equipment Guide walks the whole chain from digging to bottling, and the rest of our gold recovery equipment picks up where a pan runs out of capacity. XP built this range to pair with their high frequency XP metal detectors.

Who you are buying from

History Seekers is a small American business and a working detecting channel: over 1.1 million people follow our hunts on Facebook and YouTube. We are an authorized XP dealer, everyone here detects and prospects, and the person who answers your call has real dirt time.

The story is more important than the artifact.
