There is a specific kind of site that beats a stock coil: the big, open, grassed-over one. A pasture, a plowed field, a stretch of beach, an old homestead lot gone to weeds. The targets are there and some of them are deep, but with a stock coil you are covering a footpath's worth of ground per hour and missing the depth. The Coiltek 15" NOX is built for that ground. At 15 in / 375 mm it is a round coverage coil: every swing sweeps a wider path, and the larger loop pushes the detector's field deeper, so you clear the field faster and reach targets the stock coil never saw.
Why the 15"
The 10x5" and 14x9" are elliptical coils for finesse and all-round work; the 15" and its bigger sibling the 18" are the coverage coils. Choose the 15" when depth and ground coverage matter more than threading tight spots, but you still want a coil you can swing for a full day. It is the practical big coil: noticeably more reach and coverage than the 14x9" at 836 g / 29.5 oz, without the full commitment of the 18". If your hunting is mostly open ground and deep targets, this is the size that earns its keep.
It is a Double-D (DD) coil, which keeps target ID stable and ground handling clean even as the coil gets bigger. Full compatibility, stated the way most listings do not bother to: it fits the Minelab Equinox 600, 700, 800, and 900, plus the X-Terra Pro, the X-Terra Elite, and the Vanquish 360, 460 and 560. Waterproofing is set by the detector, so to be exact: 3 m / 10 ft on the Equinox 600 and 800, and 5 m / 16.5 ft on the Equinox 700 and 900, the X-Terra Pro and Elite, and the Vanquish 360, 460 and 560. That makes even this big coil a genuine option for the wet edges of a beach hunt. The skid plate is attached from the factory, and it carries a 2-year Coiltek warranty.
The Minelab Equinox, X-Terra Pro/Elite, and Vanquish 60 series (360, 460 and 560) share the same coil system, so this NOX coil is interchangeable across all three.
