The GPX 6000 is a gold-finding machine, but the coil on the end decides what it actually pulls out of the ground. The Coiltek 9" Gold Hawk is the do-everything size in the series: a 9 in / 232 mm round mono loop that balances depth and sensitivity better than any other coil in the line. Its round shape gives even sensitivity all the way around the edge, so you are not fighting a hot-spot or a dead-spot as you sweep, and it holds depth in open ground while still lighting up on the small gold that mineralized country hides.
Why the 9" round
The three Gold Hawk coils each solve a different problem. The 10x5" elliptical is the finesse coil for the smallest gold in the tightest, rockiest spots. The 14x9" is the big-coverage coil for wide-open ground. The 9" round sits in the middle and is the one most prospectors reach for first: light at 700 g / 24.7 oz, sensitive all around the edge for cleaning out a patch, and deep enough for open or tricky terrain without the swing weight of the big coil.
