Which detectors does it fit?
The Gold Bug 2 is a different platform from the Gold Bug, Gold Bug Pro and Gold Bug DP. It runs at 71 kHz versus 19 kHz and uses its own dedicated coil connector. Gold Bug 2 coils do not fit the Gold Bug, Gold Bug Pro or Gold Bug DP, and those coils do not fit the Gold Bug 2. This coil fits the Fisher Gold Bug 2 only. This coil is compatible with: Fisher Gold Bug 2.
Why the 10 in elliptical coil
Once you have found gold and want to work a patch, or you are chasing gold below the small coil's reach, the 10 inch elliptical is the Gold Bug 2's answer. It covers noticeably more ground per sweep and adds depth over the 6.5 inch, while the machine's 71 kHz frequency keeps it sensitive to small targets that lower-frequency detectors miss. The larger coil trades a little of the 6.5 inch's touch on the very smallest surface gold and its access to the tightest crevices, so many prospectors carry both and switch by ground.
