Description
A gold pan makes you stop to clean out. A sluice needs a creek with flow. The Gold Cube Banjo Pan is Mike Pung's answer to both: a pan and a sluice in one piece of plastic, so you keep feeding material without stopping. Gold Cube calls it the world's fastest gold pan, and the trick is the shape. Scoop into the round bowl, dip and rock, and the material flows over a removable vortex collection mat in the built-in channel. The gold stays in the mat; the sand leaves. When you are done, pull the mat and clean out into the pan.

That is the inventor of the Gold Cube showing exactly how the rocker motion works. Two minutes and you will know whether this pan is for you.
Why it is faster than your pan
| Continuous panning | Like a sluice box, you keep feeding material instead of stopping to work each pan down. Built on the Gold Cube's degrees-of-separation principle. |
| Removable vortex mat | The gold catches in the mat, not loose in the pan. Lift it out and clean up into the bowl when you are done. |
| Wet, dry, or underwater | Works in the stream, works dipped underwater, and works dry where there is no water at all. |
| The angle is built in | The pan's shape automatically holds the correct angle for the mat to work. No guesswork, no adjusting. |
| Directions included | Printed on the back of the pan, so the instructions are always with you. |
| Five colors | Black, Blue, Green, Pink, or Clear. |
How to use it
Scoop material into the pan, dip it in the stream, and use a rocker motion to gradually flow the material over the mat. The vortex matting does what it does in the Gold Cube: creates the turbulence that drops gold and lets the light material wash on. When your session is done, carefully remove the mat and rinse it out into the pan for a clean, contained cleanup.
Where it fits in your kit
The Banjo Pan is the sampling and small-water tool: fast checks of a gravel bar, working a spot too shallow for a sluice, or dry-panning where you cannot bring water. When you find ground that pays, a Gold Cube 3 Stack or 4 Stack processes it by the bucket, and the Golden Rule classifier sizes your concentrates. New to all of it?
