At a glance

Why this part
Goldfield ground eats coils: quartz, ironstone, and caliche grind through anything unprotected. A skidplate is sacrificial armor, and replacing a worn one is the cheapest maintenance a GPX 6000 owner ever does compared to replacing the GPX 14 coil underneath it. This is the genuine Minelab plate, molded to the GPX 14's exact profile so it snaps on flush and stays put.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit the GPX 11 or GPX 17 coils?
No. Each GPX 6000 coil has its own molded skidplate: GPX 11 uses part 3011-0428 and GPX 17 uses 3011-0430, both listed separately.
When should a skidplate be replaced?
When it wears through anywhere or the edges no longer grip. Better to replace a worn plate than to let ground contact reach the coil shell.
Does a skidplate affect depth?
No meaningful effect: it is thin, non-metallic armor designed by Minelab for this exact coil.
Every History Seekers order is packed by people who run these machines in the field. We stock the wear parts because ours wear out too. The story is more important than the artifact.
