Your Legend 2 already handles open ground with the stock coil and picks apart trash with the small coil. What it does not have out of the box is the in-between coil, the one that stays nimble in cluttered sites without shrinking your coverage to a saucer. That is the gap the LD22 fills.
The LD22 is a 9 in / 22 cm round Double-D, and that mid size is what makes it a smart second coil. It is small enough to work tight, iron-laden ground and separate targets a big coil smears together, but round and large enough to keep useful coverage and depth. It is the coil for old parks, yards, and relic sites where you want finesse in the trash without dropping down to the smallest coil.
Why the LD22, and when to add it to your kit
Think of the Legend 2 coils as a set you build. The LD28 11 in / 28 cm ships as the all-rounder and the LD21 8 in x 5.5 in / 21 x 14 cm is the pure sniper; the LD22 sits between them and earns its place as the do-most-things-in-trash coil. Choose the LD22 over the LD21 when you want strong separation but more coverage than the smallest coil, and over the LD28 when the ground is too tight or too iron-laden for the stock coil to behave. Most competitor listings just name the part and move on; the honest answer is that the LD22 is the coil that keeps you productive on cluttered sites without slowing you to a crawl, which makes it a common first upgrade for Legend 2 owners.
It is a Double-D (DD) coil, the configuration that gives the Legend 2 its stable target ID and clean ground handling in mineralized dirt. It is fully waterproof; the coil does not set the depth limit, the detector does, and the Nokta Legend 2 is a fully waterproof machine rated to 16 ft / 5 m (IP68), so the LD22 works the wet edges of a beach or creek as readily as dry ground.
Compatibility, stated straight: the LD22 is matched to the Nokta Legend 2. The LD coils are re-engineered for the Legend 2, and the original Nokta Legend uses the separate LG coil series, so buy the coil matched to your detector. Nokta's own manual warns owners of more than one machine to be sure they have not fitted the wrong coil by mistake. If you are not certain which Legend you own, call us before you order.
