Your Legend 2 came with this coil for a reason, and a nicked or waterlogged coil should never be the thing that ends a hunt. This is the LD28 as a clean spare, or as the balanced starting point if you need a second all-round coil.
The LD28 is the 11 in / 28 cm round Double-D that ships on the Legend 2, so it is the coil the machine's timings and target ID were tuned around. That is what makes it the honest all-rounder: enough footprint for real depth and coverage, enough shape to keep separation clean in moderate trash, and a balanced weight you can swing all day. If you hunt a bit of everything, this is the coil that does a bit of everything well, which is exactly why Nokta chose it as the standard for the Legend 2.
Why the LD28 and not another size
Think of the Legend 2 coils as a set. The LD21 8 in x 5.5 in / 21 x 14 cm is the small sniper for iron-choked, tight ground; the LD22 9 in / 22 cm round and the LD38 15 in x 12 in / 38 x 30 cm are the maneuverable and coverage upgrades. The LD28 sits in the middle and does not specialize, and that is the point: it is the coil you leave on when you do not know what the day will bring. Most Legend 2 owners keep an LD28 mounted and reach for a second size only when the ground demands it, so a spare LD28 is the most useful coil most Legend 2 owners can own. Building a two-coil kit? It is a Double-D (DD) coil, the configuration that gives the Legend 2 its stable target ID and clean ground handling in mineralized dirt. It is fully waterproof; the coil does not set the depth limit, the detector does, and the Nokta Legend 2 is a fully waterproof machine rated to 16 ft / 5 m (IP68), so the LD28 goes as deep as you can take the Legend 2, wet sand and shallow water included.
Compatibility, stated straight: the LD28 is matched to the Nokta Legend 2. The LD coils are re-engineered for the Legend 2, and the original Nokta Legend uses the separate LG coil series, so buy the coil matched to your detector. Nokta's own manual warns owners of more than one machine to be sure they have not fitted the wrong coil by mistake. If you are not certain which Legend you own, call us before you order.
