Every Simplex owner meets the same wall: a good site that is simply too trashy or too tight for a bigger coil. The SX24 is the coil that pulls the keepers out from between the junk. It is the coil the Simplex Lite ships with, and the finesse coil most Ultra owners add first.
At 9.5 in x 6 in / 24 x 15 cm it is the smallest coil in the Simplex lineup, and that narrow elliptical footprint is the whole point: it concentrates the detector's field into a precise zone that separates targets a wider coil masks in high trash, and it slips into spots the 11 in / 28 cm coil cannot reach. Nails, foil, and bottle caps crowd the coins and jewelry, a big coil blends them into one smeared signal, and the SX24 is Nokta's answer to exactly that.
Why the SX24, and which Simplex it is for
Think of the three Simplex coils as a set. The SX28 11 in / 28 cm is the balanced all-rounder and the SX35 13.5 in x 12.5 in / 35 x 31.5 cm is the big coverage coil; the SX24 is the trash and tight-ground specialist. Buy it as a spare or replacement if you run a Simplex Lite, where it is the stock coil, or add it to a Simplex Ultra when you want to grid old yards, foundations, fence lines, and hammered relic sites where the finds hide next to the iron. Most competitor listings just give the dimensions; the honest answer is that the SX24 is the coil that turns a frustrating trashy site into a productive one.
It is a Double-D (DD) coil, the configuration that gives the Simplex its stable target ID and clean separation on mineralized, iron-laden ground. It is fully waterproof; the coil does not set the depth limit, the detector does, and both the Simplex Ultra and Simplex Lite are IP68 machines submersible to 16 ft / 5 m, so even this small coil works the wet edges of a beach or creek.
Compatibility, stated straight: the SX24 is matched to the current Nokta Simplex line, so it fits both the Simplex Ultra and the Simplex Lite.
