Description
The Fisher F19 Field Kit is the relic hunter's kit that can prospect: the Fisher F19 with the 11 in DD search coil, plus the Fisher F-Pulse pulse induction pinpointer. A 19 kHz detector with a 40-point iron discrimination range for the iron-choked sites where the good targets hide, and a pinpointer that stays quiet in the same mineralized ground.
At a glance
Fisher F19 metal detector with pinpointer: 19 kHz, 40-point iron discrimination, 2-digit target ID, FeTone iron audio, V-Break tone breakpoint, Notch Width, Ground Grab plus manual ground balance from ferrite to salt, backlight, 11 in (28 cm) waterproof DD search coil, 2 lb 12 oz (1.25 kg), one 9V; plus the Fisher F-Pulse pinpointer. Relic hunting, coins, small gold; beginner to intermediate.
Why this kit
Nobody packages the F19 with anything, which is odd, because the F19 hunter is the one who needs a good pinpointer most. Relic sites are iron. You set the F19 to silence iron under a chosen target number, let V-Break hand you a low tone on the questionable stuff, and dig the targets that read above the line; then you are elbow-deep in a hole full of square nails looking for one button. The F-Pulse finds it. It is pulse induction, so red clay, magnetite and the hot rocks that drive VLF pinpointers to chatter do not register, and that is the same ground the F19 was designed to balance in. The 11 in (28 cm) DD coil in this configuration covers an old field faster than the standard 10 in closed coil, with more depth per sweep; the 10 in stays the pick for brush and stubble, and we sell that version separately.
What the F19 does, honestly
Fisher built the F19 for relics and small gold, and the manual says so plainly: it is tuned for low-conductivity targets and gives up a little on high-conductivity coins like a quarter. In exchange you get a discrimination interface designed around iron. Disc runs 0 to 80 and silences everything at or below the number you set; V-Break gives any target below your breakpoint a low tone so you can hear iron without digging it; Notch Width opens a window up to 20 points wide to drop shell casings or bottle caps; FeTone lowers iron volume separately from everything else; and by design silver can never be discriminated out. Ground Grab balances the machine with a press-and-hold and a few pumps of the coil, with manual override from 0 to 99.9, and the range runs all the way to salt. The Fe3O4 bar graph shows how much magnetite is under you, which is also where placer gold concentrates. Gain and threshold are real knobs. One 9V alkaline runs 15 to 20 hours. The limits: the housing is weather-resistant, not submersible; Fisher rates the F19 for dry sand only on beaches; there is no dedicated gold mode; headphones are not included and the jack takes a stereo 1/4 in plug.

Frequently asked questions
Which kit do I need: the F19 Field Kit or the F44 Field Kit?
Iron-heavy relic sites, mineralized ground, or occasional small-gold trips: the F19 Field Kit, 19 kHz with knobs for gain and threshold and ground balance to salt. Parks, yards and dry sand for coins and jewelry, with push-button modes and a weatherproof housing: the Fisher F44 Field Kit. Both include the same F-Pulse pinpointer, and so does the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV First Detector Kit for a first detector on a budget.
F19 Field Kit or Gold Bug 2 Gold Kit for gold?
If nuggets are the mission, the Fisher Gold Bug 2 Gold Kit at 71 kHz. If relics and coins are most of your year and gold country is a few trips, the F19 does both with a target ID the Gold Bug 2 does not have.
Why the 11 in (28 cm) DD coil instead of the standard 10 in (25 cm) coil?
Coverage and depth per sweep in open fields with the 11 in (28 cm) coil. The standard 10 in (25 cm) closed coil is the pick for brush, stubble and the trashiest sites, and Fisher's optional 5 in (13 cm) DD is the tiny-gold and heavy-trash coil. All three fit the F19.
Can the F19 find gold?
Yes, within honest limits. Fisher lists gold prospecting among its uses and designed it for small, low-conductivity targets. Hunt in All Metal with the threshold hum up, watch the Fe3O4 graph for black sand, and carry a magnet. There is no dedicated gold mode.
What does the 40-point iron discrimination range do?
Target IDs from 1 to 39 are ferrous on the F19, and that range is spread across 40 points instead of a handful, so you can separate big iron from small nails and decide what to silence. Silver can never be discriminated out by design.
Is the F19 waterproof?
The search coil is waterproof; the control housing is weather-resistant and must not be submerged. Fisher rates it for dry sand on beaches. The F-Pulse is waterproof to 6 ft (1.8 m).
Why add a pinpointer to the F19?
The F19's pinpoint mode locates the target under the coil; the F-Pulse locates it inside the hole among the iron, and being pulse induction it does not false on the mineralized dirt the F19 hunts in.
What batteries does the kit use?
One 9V alkaline in the F19, 15 to 20 hours without the backlight; two AA in the F-Pulse. Neither is included.
