Description

A bent middle section is the usual way an X-Terra comes home from a trip: it folds to 25 in (63 cm) for the car, and the camlock section is what takes the knock. The genuine Minelab X-Terra Pro / Elite Middle Shaft Assembly (part 3011-0461) is the official replacement for that section on both the X-Terra Pro and the X-Terra Elite, sold as a single part so a damaged shaft never means a new detector.

At a glance

Genuine Minelab accessory, part 3011-0461, UPC 811493019239. Middle shaft assembly for the Minelab X-Terra Pro and X-Terra Elite (including the Elite Expedition Pack). It is the center section of the three-piece shaft, with the camlock, as pictured. Not an Equinox 700/900 part (that is 3011-0467) and not a Vanquish part. Official OEM replacement shaft sold by History Seekers, an authorized Minelab dealer.

Which shaft section do I need?

The X-Terra Pro and Elite shaft is three pieces: the upper section with the control box and handle, this middle section, and the lower section that carries the coil. Minelab sells the middle and lower sections separately. If the damage is at the coil end, the part you want is the lower shaft for X-Terra Elite, X-Terra Pro and Vanquish (3011-0419). If the camlock no longer holds, the tube is bent, or the collapsing section is cracked, this middle shaft assembly is the fix. The Equinox 700 and 900 use a different middle shaft (3011-0467) even though the machines look alike; do not cross them.

Why this replacement shaft

Minelab builds the X-Terra Pro and Elite around a lightweight three-piece shaft: 1.3 kg (2.9 lb) for the whole detector, 138 cm (54 in) extended, 63 cm (25 in) collapsed, per the factory specification. The middle section does all of the collapsing, which makes its camlock the most-worked part on the machine, and it is the section that absorbs a fall in a truck bed. Dealers that sell this part describe it the same way we do: replace a worn, bent or damaged shaft section with the factory part and the detector locks up like new. One dealer calls the shaft aluminum and a European dealer calls it fiberglass; Minelab publishes neither, so we do not claim a material. What we can say is that it is the exact assembly Minelab fits at the factory, it is a five-minute swap with no tools beyond your hands, and it fits both current X-Terra models.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this fit the X-Terra Elite as well as the Pro?

Yes. Minelab lists part 3011-0461 for the X-Terra Pro and the X-Terra Elite series, including the Elite Expedition Pack.

Will it fit my Equinox 700 or 900?

No. The Equinox 700 and 900 use their own middle shaft, part 3011-0467. This part is X-Terra only.

Is this the lower shaft that holds the coil?

No. This is the middle, camlock section. The coil-end lower shaft for the X-Terra Pro, Elite and Vanquish is part 3011-0419.

When does the middle shaft need replacing?

When the camlock no longer holds under swing pressure with the lever fully closed, when the tube is bent, or after travel damage. It swaps in minutes.

Every History Seekers order is packed by people who run these machines in the field. We stock the wear parts because ours wear out too. The story is more important than the artifact.
