Description
Your AT Max is waterproof. Its headphone socket should stay that way. That is the whole reason this MS-2 exists: it carries Garrett's watertight 2-pin AT connector, so the connection at the detector stays sealed against rain, splash, and shallow dunks while you hunt. Most listings never explain that, and buyers end up confused about why a land headphone wears a waterproof plug. Now you know, and it is the most important feature on the spec sheet.
At a glance
The Garrett MS-2 with 2-pin AT connector (PN 1627310) is a wired over-ear land-use headphone for the Garrett AT Max, AT Pro, AT Gold, and ATX. 8 ohm speakers, 30 to 18,000 Hz, volume control, padded headband and ear cushions, reinforced 10 ft (3 m) coil cord, watertight 2-pin AT plug. The headphones themselves are non-submersible.
Why this MS-2 and not the other one
Same proven MS-2 platform as the 1/4 in version: full-ear cushions that hold onto faint deep tones, a cup-mounted volume control, and the reinforced coil cord. The difference is the plug. If your machine is an AT Max, AT Pro, AT Gold, or ATX, this is the version that clicks straight into the sealed 2-pin socket with no adapter to lose or wear out. Garrett also lists it for the Sea Hunter and Infinium in land use. ACE-series owners want the 1/4 in version instead.
Land phones, waterproof connector - the honest boundary
The 2-pin AT connector keeps the DETECTOR sealed. The headphones are land gear: rain-capable connection, non-submersible cups. If you plan to put your ears underwater with an AT-series, ATX, or Sea Hunter Mark II, that is exactly what the Garrett Submersible Headphones are for.
