Description

Bluetooth headphones beep after your search coil has already left the target. Z-Lynk beeps while it is still there. Garrett's wireless protocol runs at a near-zero 17 millisecond delay - six times faster than Bluetooth by Garrett's measurement - on 2.4 GHz frequency hopping that prevents crosstalk from the detectorist swinging next to you. The MS-3 puts that speed inside a full-size over-ear headphone with a 30 hour battery, so the whole hunt happens without a cord across your chest.

At a glance

The Garrett MS-3 Z-Lynk Wireless Headphones (PN 1627710) have a built-in Z-Lynk receiver with 17 ms audio delay, 2.4 GHz frequency hopping, up to 30 hours of battery, IP52 light-rain protection, 8 ohm speakers, 30 to 18,000 Hz response, cup-mounted volume control, and a foldable frame. USB charging cable included. Pairs with Z-Lynk-equipped Garrett detectors; not submersible.

Why the MS-3 over its siblings

Against the CS-3, the MS-3 is the isolation pick: full ear cups that shut out wind and crowd noise, where the CS-3 trades isolation for a 5.4 oz (153 g) featherweight ride. Same 17 ms Z-Lynk core in both. If your detector has no Z-Lynk transmitter built in, do not buy this bare headphone - buy the MS-3 Kit, which adds the WT-1 transmitter and both connection cables. Most dealer listings leave you to figure that boundary out yourself; it is the single most common wireless-headphone buying mistake we see.

Pairs out of the box with

Garrett's Z-Lynk-equipped machines: Vortex (VX5, VX7, VX9), AT Max, ACE Apex, Axiom, and Axiom Lite - plus the Pro-Pointer AT Z-Lynk pinpointer, so your recovery beeps land in the same headphones. Garrett ships the MS-3 as the factory headphone on the AT Max, Apex, and Axiom packages; buying it here means replacing or adding the exact unit your machine was designed around.
