Description

The Gold Monster 1000 is the detector that made small-gold prospecting something a beginner can actually pull off: 45 kHz sensitivity, set to fully automatic.

Minelab Gold Monster 1000 at a glance

The Minelab Gold Monster 1000 is a fully automatic 45 kHz VLF gold detector with a 5 in / 13 cm GM05 Double-D coil (waterproof to 1 m / 3.3 ft), two detect modes (Gold with Iron Reject, and Deep All-Metal), three sensitivity settings, a Gold Chance Indicator, and ferrous/non-ferrous ID. It weighs 2.94 lb / 1.33 kg. Runs on a rechargeable Li-ion battery or 8 AA. Wired headphones included. 2-year warranty.

Chasing gold used to mean learning to hand-balance a touchy VLF detector before you ever dug a nugget. The Gold Monster 1000 removes that barrier. It runs automatic noise cancel, automatic ground balance, and automatic sensitivity, so you switch it on, set the mode, and hunt while the detector handles the fiddly settings that used to take a season to learn.

Underneath the simple controls is a serious gold engine: a 45 kHz VLF frequency with a 24-bit signal processor, tuned to hear the small, sub-grain gold that lower-frequency coin machines walk right over. A Gold Chance Indicator tells you how likely a target is to be gold before you dig, and ferrous/non-ferrous identification helps you leave the trash and hot rocks in the ground, which matters in mineralized goldfield soil.

Two detect modes cover how you hunt: Gold mode with Iron Reject for working through trashy ground, and Deep All-Metal for chasing the faintest deep signals. Three sensitivity settings (Manual, Auto, and Auto+) and six volume levels let you dial it in for the site. The 5 in / 13 cm GM05 Double-D coil is waterproof to 1 m / 3.3 ft and shines in tight spaces and on the smallest targets, and the control box is rain-resistant for the weather that finds you on a remote patch.

It is built to carry: 2.94 lb / 1.33 kg in hand, a telescoping shaft that collapses to 37 in / 94 cm for a pack, and a rechargeable Li-ion battery (or drop in 8 AA when you are far from a charger). Wired headphones are in the box so you can hear the faint ones from the first swing.

When you outgrow it and want more depth and a fully waterproof machine, the next step up is the Minelab Gold Monster 2000.
