The Score line is one platform in three tiers. The Triple Score is the one built for the hunter who wants it all: it adds the fourth Relic mode, four frequency choices (Multi plus 4, 15 and 20 kHz) instead of two, the full sensitivity range (1 to 15), recovery speed 1 to 5, three custom user profiles, and the full audio and iron tool set that the Score and Double Score do not have: tone options (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 60 and P for Tone Pitch), iron volume 0 to 10, threshold 0 to 30, an adjustable tone break and bottle cap rejection 0 to 8. Most listings describe Relic mode in a single line about finding historical artifacts. Here is what it actually does, from Nokta's Score manual. Very deep targets can read close to the surrounding soil, so a ground-balanced detector tunes them out. Relic mode resets the ground-balanced soil so deep coins and large masses can still be detected, runs on Multi frequency only, and changes both the volume and the pitch of the audio in proportion to signal strength. It trades the Iron Filter, Ground Suppressor and Bottle Cap Rejection for two settings found only in Relic mode: Iron Reject (Ir) and Audio Gain (AG, 1 to 6). The honest trade-off, which Nokta prints too: targets at the fringe of depth may give no ID or an unstable one, so you dig by ear.
You will also read that the Triple Score is not a first detector. Nokta built the Score line to be the opposite of menu-heavy: power it on, choose Park, Field, Beach or Relic, and start swinging, and Nokta describes it as suitable for novice and experienced detectorists alike. The extra controls stay out of your way until you want them. What the Triple Score adds is room to grow, so a new hunter does not outgrow the machine in a season, and an experienced hunter gets the tone break, threshold and iron volume controls that the lower tiers lock.
The two coils do two jobs. The SC30 12 x 9 in (30 x 23 cm) Double-D coil covers ground and reaches for depth; the SC24 9.5 x 6 in (24 x 15 cm) Double-D coil slips between trash and into tight spots. Both are waterproof, both share the connector, so a swap in the field takes seconds, and they interchange across the whole Score family.

All three are IP68 waterproof to 16 ft (5 m), run Simultaneous Multi-Frequency, read 60 target IDs, weigh 2.6 lb (1.2 kg) and carry a 3-year Nokta warranty. They differ in modes, frequencies, controls and what comes in the box.

Choose the Nokta Score if you want the simplest waterproof multi-frequency machine and will hunt parks and beaches on its presets. Does the Nokta Triple Score Detect Gold?
Gold jewelry, readily: rings and chains in parks and on beaches are exactly what multi-frequency does well, wet sand included. What the Score line does not have is a dedicated gold prospecting mode, so sub-gram natural nuggets in hot goldfield soil are outside its lane. Within Nokta's range, the Nokta Legend 2 adds a Gold mode, and the Nokta Magnetar 9000 is Nokta's dedicated pulse induction gold machine.
The Software Keeps Improving After You Buy It
The Triple Score updates over USB with Nokta's Score Update Tool (Windows and macOS), at no charge. The current version, V1.2, improved Pinpoint and Beach mode, raised the volume of weak signals from deep targets in Beach mode, and on the Double and Triple Score added adjustable Deep Target Identification (dt), which lets deep non-ferrous targets that are masked or read as iron register as non-ferrous. To use it, select the Recovery Speed setting and press the pinpoint button; "dt" appears on screen and you set it from 1 to 6 (0 is off). It works in Park, Field and Beach, in Multi and single frequency. Nokta notes that higher dt values can reduce stability, and asks you to reset to factory defaults after any update.
Who It's For
New detectorists who want a real, fully waterproof multi-frequency machine they will not outgrow in a season; coin, relic and beach hunters who want two coils and full control in one box; and water hunters who need the whole detector submersible, not just the coil.
Honest limits: there is no gold prospecting mode (see above). The 3250 mAh battery is internal and is replaced only by Nokta or its authorized service centers; Nokta sells an optional waterproof spare battery for long days away from a charger. Bluetooth does not carry through water, so for fully submerged hunting use Nokta's wired Waterproof Headphones, and never run the detector underwater while it is connected to a power bank. In Relic mode, the deepest targets may give no ID or an unstable one.

The detector is fully waterproof: IP68 rated, with the whole detector, control box included, submersible to 16 ft (5 m). The included Bluetooth headphones are for use above water, because Bluetooth does not carry through water. For fully submerged hunting, use Nokta's wired Waterproof Headphones, and do not use the detector underwater while it is connected to a power bank.
