Why the XL over its siblings
The ST trio shares one audio platform; the XL trades grams for isolation. Against the 72 g WSA ST backphones, its over-ear cups block the wind noise that open designs let through, which matters more on a beach than any spec. Against the WS6 ST, you give up the screen and master-control module and keep $130 - the XL is a pure receiver for hunters whose remote never leaves the stem. It pairs with the DEUS II remote or a WS6/WS6 ST running as master.
V4 stereo, unlocked
XP's free DEUS II V4.0 software (released June 5, 2026) runs exclusively on the ST stereo headsets. Stereo Multi-Processing puts "two fully independent detection channels" in your ears, Multi-Reactivity runs two Reactivity settings in the same sweep, and Audio Morphing shifts the tone as you close on a target. Big cups plus a real stereo image is the configuration those features were designed to shine on.
