Why a pack beats piecemeal
The two-item XP ICON bundle leaves recovery gear for a second order, and second orders happen after the first frustrating hunt, not before. The MI-6 is not a generic probe either: it is XP's connected pinpointer, built to pair with the ICON remote so its audio plays through your headphones, and if you set it down in tall grass the remote makes it ring and flash from up to 82 ft (25 m) away, even switched off, even weeks later. Waterproof, stated precisely
The ICON carries an IP68 rating, waterproof 5 m / 16 ft, and the 5 m ceiling is real with conditions XP prints and most listings skip. With the standard cap the remote is rated to 5 ft (1.5 m) for up to 30 minutes: rain, creeks and surf wading are covered as shipped. Going deeper requires the BH-02 bone conduction headphones, whose waterproof connector replaces the cap, plus the waveguide for the radio link; so equipped the ICON works as a true underwater metal detector to 16 ft (5 m). The WSA XL ST headphones in this pack are dry-land audio, not dive gear.

How waterproof is the XP ICON in this pack?
Two ratings apply and XP publishes both. With the standard connector cap fitted, the remote is rated to 1.5 m / 5 ft for up to 30 minutes, which covers rain, creeks and surf wading. The full IP68 rating of 5 m / 16 ft applies only when the BH-02 bone conduction headphones replace the cap with their waterproof connector and the waveguide carries the radio link. The WSA XL ST headphones in this pack are for dry land; they are not dive audio.

Can the XP ICON find gold?
Gold jewelry, yes; gold nuggets, stated honestly, no. The ICON can detect gold rings and small gold jewelry, which sit low on its target ID scale, but none of its factory programs is a dedicated gold prospecting program. Within the ICON range, the ICON X is the more gold-capable of the two because it adds a 28 kHz single frequency. For real prospecting, XP's answer is the XP DEUS II Gold package with the 9.5 x 5 in HF2 elliptical search coil, alongside XP's gold pans and classifiers.
Should I get the Adventure Pack with the ICON or the ICON X?
The ICON version suits most first buyers: 2 single frequencies (4 and 14 kHz), 3 factory and 3 user programs, and every shared platform feature. The ICON X version adds a 28 kHz single frequency for small and low-conductive targets, 6 programs of each kind, 7 reactivity levels, 0.5-point ferrous ID and a carbon-mid stem. If jewelry hunting or long-term settings depth matters, the X pack is worth the step; the rest of the kit is identical.
How does charging work across the kit?
The coil, remote and WSA XL ST headphones each carry their own battery, roughly 11 hours per charge depending on audio output, with a full charge in about 3 hours, and one included 3-output cable charges all three at once from any certified 5 V / 1 A USB supply. The MI-6 pinpointer carries its own rechargeable battery and charges separately with its own cable.
Which XP coils and headphones fit the ICON in this pack?
The ICON28 coil in the box is an ICON-family coil. Beyond it, XP's manual lists the DEUS II FMF coils (9 in / 22.5 cm, 11 in / 28 cm, 13x11 in / 34x28 cm and the HF2 elliptical) as compatible with the ICON remote, and the WSA ST, WSA XL ST and WS6 ST headphones pair with it. The original DEUS and ORX coils (X35 and HF) and the WS4 and WS5 headphones are DEUS I products and never fit the ICON. For diving, the ICON uses the BH-02 bone conduction headphones, not the BH-01, which is a DEUS II part.
Does the Adventure Pack include the XP Finds Pouch?
No. Our Adventure Pack is the four-product combination XP's US distribution sanctions: ICON detector, WSA XL ST headphones, MI-6 pinpointer and Backpack 240. The Backpack 240 has a waist belt made to carry the XP Finds Pouch, which is sold separately.
