Waterproof, stated precisely
The ICON X carries an IP68 rating, waterproof 5 m / 16 ft, and the full 5 m is genuine, with conditions XP prints and most listings drop. Standard cap on the remote: 5 ft (1.5 m) for up to 30 minutes, so rain, creeks and surf wading are covered out of the box. Below that, the BH-02 bone conduction headphones must replace the cap with their waterproof connector and the waveguide must carry the radio link. Why the WSA XL ST instead of the WSA ST headphones?
The WSA XL ST is the full-size over-ear model of XP's current ST line, about 250 g (8.8 oz), with closed cups that block wind and background noise, and the ICON X's enhanced audio curve is easiest to appreciate through them. The WSA ST is the lightest option at about 72 g, riding on the ear. Both use XP's ultra low latency wireless link of about 4 ms. Neither is dive audio; underwater sound is the wired BH-02 bone conduction headphones.
Which coils and headphones fit the ICON X?
XP's ICON manual lists the Deus II FMF coils (9 in / 22.5 cm D22FMF, 11 in / 28 cm D28FMF, 13x11 in / 34x28 cm D3428FMF and the HF2 elliptical) and the current ST headphones (WS6 ST, WSA ST, WSA XL ST) as ICON and ICON X compatible, and the remote stores several paired coils so a swap is one click.
