Description

Walk a nail-infested homesite or a picked-over park with a big coil and the targets blur together: three nails and a half dime read as one grunt, and you dig the nail. The 9 in (22.5 cm) FMF search coil is the size XP built for that ground. It sees between the iron, it fits where a larger coil cannot, and it is the lightest of XP's three FMF coil sizes. This History Seekers bundle pairs the XP DEUS II RC package with the 9 in (22.5 cm) FMF search coil with the XP WSA ST wireless stereo headphones, bundled by History Seekers from two factory-new XP products, so the stereo Multi-Process audio that makes trashy sites readable is in the box from day one.

At a glance

XP DEUS II remote control, 9 in (22.5 cm) round FMF search coil, S-Telescopic stem and the WSA ST wireless stereo headphones. Fast Multi Frequency with 49 single frequencies from 4 to 45 kHz, 12 factory programs. Remote and search coil IP68 waterproof to 20 m (66 ft); the WSA ST is rainproof, not for submersion. Weight, from XP's published component figures: 9 in coil 345 g (12.2 oz) plus S-Telescopic stem 370 g (13.1 oz) = 715 g (1.58 lb) in hand with the remote worn on the hip, or 865 g (1.91 lb) with the 150 g remote clipped to the stem; the WSA ST adds 72 g (2.5 oz) on your head. XP publishes no assembled total for the RC package; its "from 750 g" figure describes the WS6 Master configuration, not this one. Current DEUS II software: V4.1. Full 5-year XP warranty on each product. History Seekers Metal Detectors is an authorized XP dealer; every XP DEUS II 9 in WSA ST bundle we sell is new, sourced through XP's authorized US distributor, and carries the full 5-year XP warranty.

Why the 9 in coil

Coil size is the first DEUS II decision, and it is a question about your sites, not about the detector. The 9 in (22.5 cm) coil is the separation and finesse size: a tighter footprint means fewer targets under the coil at once, so a thin silver coin lying next to a square nail gets its own signal instead of being averaged into the iron. In brush, around foundations, along fence lines and in the stubble of a colonial cellar hole, it goes where the 11 in (28 cm) and 13x11 in (34x28 cm) coils bump and snag. At 345 g (12.2 oz) it is also the lightest of the three sizes, which matters at hour five of a swing. What you give up is coverage: on a clean plowed field or an open beach, the larger coils cover more ground per pass. If most of your hunting is open ground, look at the 11 in WSA ST bundle or the 13x11 in WSA ST bundle. If your best permissions are old homesites, parks, woods and trashy relic camps, this is the coil.

Why the WSA ST headphones

Multi-Process is the single biggest change XP made to the DEUS II, and it only runs on an ST stereo headset. The remote processes two detection channels at once and sends one to each ear: a low-reactivity channel that reaches for deep targets and a high-reactivity channel that picks small non-ferrous out of the iron, in the same sweep. The factory DUAL AXIS preset pairs a classic motion channel with a non-motion channel so you can size a target before you dig, and Audio Morphing blends tones as you approach it. None of that works on the discontinued non-ST WS6 or WSA II headphones. The WSA ST is the lightest way in: 72 g (2.5 oz), foldable, rainproof, a 4-band equalizer and 10 volume levels set from the remote, about 15 hours per charge. Other dealers list this same configuration as one line in a 21-package grid. We built a page for it because the choice between the three ST headphones is the second DEUS II decision, and it deserves a straight answer: the WS6 ST package adds a screen and doubles as a backup controller if the remote ever fails mid-hunt; the WSA XL ST bundle gives you full over-ear cups and more isolation from wind and traffic; the WSA ST gives you every Multi-Process feature at the lowest weight and the lowest price of the three. If the remote in your hand is all the control you need, this is the one.

The DEUS II bundle ladder

History Seekers offers the DEUS II RC package in three coil sizes and with each of XP's three current ST headphones. Pick the coil for your ground, then the headphone for your head. Every bundle below is two factory-new XP products in one cart, each with its own 5-year XP warranty.

Coil + WSA ST (72 g, lightest) + WSA XL ST (over-ear, IP68 1 m) + WS6 ST (screen, backup controller)
9 in (22.5 cm): separation, trashy and tight sites This bundle 9 in + WSA XL ST 9 in + WS6 ST
11 in (28 cm): the all-rounder 11 in + WSA ST 11 in + WSA XL ST 11 in + WS6 ST
13x11 in (34x28 cm): coverage on open ground 13x11 in + WSA ST 13x11 in + WSA XL ST 13x11 in + WS6 ST

Already own XP audio? The 9 in RC-only package ships without headphones. Hunting small gold or iron-masked colonial sites at high frequency? The DEUS II Gold swaps the FMF coil for the HF2 elliptical coil, which reaches 9 to 120 kHz.

Technical Specifications and What They Mean in the Field

Spec (XP manual and xpmetaldetectors.com) What It Does for You
FMF Fast Multi Frequency, or any of 49 single frequencies from 4 to 45 kHz Multi-frequency reads salt, mineralization and mixed targets at once; DEUS MONO lets you drop to a single frequency when power lines or another detector make multi-frequency noisy.
12 factory programs (GENERAL, SENSITIVE, SENSI FT, FAST, PARK, DEEP HC, DEUS MONO, GOLD FIELD, RELIC, DIVING, BEACH, BEACH SENS) plus user slots A starting point for every site type; RELIC is XP's deep-relic program and DEUS MONO is the single-frequency escape from interference.
9 in (22.5 cm) round Double-D FMF search coil, 345 g (12.2 oz), coil cover, lower stem Separation in iron and reach into tight spots; the lightest of the three FMF coil sizes, swung all day without fatigue.
Remote and search coil IP68 to 20 m (66 ft); antenna required when the coil is submerged Wade, snorkel or dive with the remote itself under water, not just the coil. The WSA ST stays on dry land; dive audio is XP's optional BH-01 bone conduction headphones.
WSA ST wireless stereo headphones: 72 g (2.5 oz), foldable, rainproof, 10 volume levels, 4-band equalizer, 20 to 20,000 Hz Runs Multi-Process stereo audio (Multi-Reactivity, DUAL AXIS, Audio Morphing); pairs with the DEUS II remote and, if you ever add one, an XP ICON or ICON X remote.
XP digital wireless link, 36 automatic channels, zero audio latency Target sounds arrive as the coil passes, so recovery speed and reactivity settings mean what they say.
Battery life: remote up to 25 hours, coil up to 20 hours depending on program and frequency, WSA ST about 15 hours; all three charge in about 3 hours A full weekend on one charge for most hunters; the remote shows the level of the coil, the headphones and the remote on one screen.
Software updates by USB through XP's online updater; current version V4.1 Multi-Process arrived in V4.0 and was refined in V4.1; the remote and the headphones must run the same version.
S-Telescopic stem, 370 g (13.1 oz), 58 cm folded to 130 cm extended (23 to 51 in) Packs into a carry bag or a suitcase; the remote clips to the stem or rides in the supplied hip-mount case.
Go Terrain app integration A long press on the remote sends the target to the Go Terrain app on your phone.
Made in France; 5-year XP warranty on the detector package and on the WSA ST The longest detector warranty in the class we carry, on both products in this bundle.

Who it's for

This bundle belongs with the relic hunter working iron-heavy camps and homesites, the coin shooter in picked-over parks and schoolyards, and the woods and cellar-hole hunter who needs a coil that fits between roots and foundation stones. It is an intermediate to advanced machine that rewards learning its programs, and the stereo audio is the reason to buy a current ST package rather than closeout stock. Honest limits: the 9 in coil covers less ground per pass than the 11 in or 13x11 in, so open-field and wide-beach hunters should look one or two rungs across the ladder above. The WSA ST headphones are rainproof, not waterproof, and have no screen; if you want a headset that can run the detector by itself, that is the WS6 ST. Diving requires the optional antenna and XP's BH-01 bone conduction headphones. And DEUS I accessories do not cross over: X35 and HF coils, WS4 and WS5 headphones and ORX parts are DEUS I products and never fit the DEUS II; the DEUS II takes FMF coils (9 in, 11 in, 13x11 in) and the HF2 elliptical only, and XP's ICON coil is ICON-only.

See it in the field

History Seekers hunts run on YouTube and Facebook, where over 1.1 million followers watch us dig relics, coins, and gold across the Southeast and beyond. Most of the History Seekers team swings a DEUS II for relics and coins, and we rotate coils with the site, so this machine shows up across many hunts rather than one dedicated video. Every find you see was made with gear we sell and use ourselves.

One more thing worth knowing about who you are buying from. History Seekers is a small American business, not a big box retailer where nobody on staff has ever swung a detector, and not a warehouse that just moves boxes. Everyone here detects, from the top down: gold, relics, coins, jewelry, even float copper. Years of field experience before hire is not a coincidence, it is a requirement. The person who answers your questions may be the same one who packs your order and drives it to the UPS drop-off, and every purchase keeps everyday Americans working.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose the 9 in (22.5 cm) coil over the 11 in or 13x11 in?

Choose the 9 in coil when your sites are trashy, iron-heavy or tight: old homesites, parks, woods, cellar holes and relic camps. Its smaller footprint separates a coin from a nail next to it and fits between roots and foundation stones, and at 345 g (12.2 oz) it is the lightest of the three FMF coil sizes. The 11 in (28 cm) is the all-round choice and the 13x11 in (34x28 cm) covers the most ground per pass on open fields and beaches; both give up some separation in iron to do it. All three fit the same remote, so you can add a second coil later.

What is the difference between the WSA ST, WSA XL ST and WS6 ST headphones?

All three are XP's current ST stereo headphones and all three run Multi-Process. The WSA ST (this bundle) is the lightest at 72 g, foldable and rainproof, with no screen. The WSA XL ST is the full-size over-ear version with more isolation and an IP68 rating to 1 m. The WS6 ST adds a graphic screen and its own controls, so it can run the detector as a backup controller if the remote fails. Pick the WSA ST for weight and value, the WSA XL ST for comfort and isolation, the WS6 ST for redundancy.

Do XP's Multi-Process stereo features work with the WSA ST?

Yes. Multi-Process, including Multi-Reactivity, the DUAL AXIS preset and Audio Morphing, runs on any ST stereo headset: WSA ST, WSA XL ST or WS6 ST. It arrived with DEUS II software V4.0 and the current version is V4.1. The discontinued non-ST WS6 and WSA II headphones cannot run it, and XP warns that V4.0 should never be installed with a non-ST headset.

Is the XP DEUS II waterproof, and can I use the WSA ST in the water?

The remote control and the search coil are IP68 rated and submersible to 20 m (66 ft); XP's optional antenna is required when the coil is submerged. The WSA ST headphones are rainproof for wet weather and wading but are not for submersion. For diving, XP makes the BH-01 bone conduction headphones, which are IP68 to 20 m (66 ft).

Will my DEUS I coils or headphones work with this DEUS II?

No. X35 and HF coils, WS4 and WS5 headphones and ORX parts are DEUS I products and do not pair with the DEUS II. The DEUS II uses FMF coils in 9 in (22.5 cm), 11 in (28 cm) and 13x11 in (34x28 cm), plus the HF2 elliptical coil, and the current ST headphones. XP's ICON coil is for the ICON and ICON X only, although it works the other way: the DEUS II's FMF coils and ST headphones do also fit the ICON and ICON X.

Can the XP DEUS II find gold?

Yes, twice over. Gold rings and jewelry are everyday work for the DEUS II in any program, and for prospecting it ships with GOLD FIELD as factory program 8, reaching 40 kHz for small gold in mineralized ground. The 9 in (22.5 cm) coil in this bundle is already a nimble choice around hot rocks. When sub-gram gold is the goal, the DEUS II Gold package with the HF2 elliptical coil reaches 9 to 120 kHz, and the HF2 coil can be added to this remote later.

Is this a factory package, and who is selling it?

It is bundled by History Seekers from two factory-new XP products: the DEUS2-22FMFRCEA detector package and the WSAST headphones, each new in its own box. History Seekers Metal Detectors is an authorized XP dealer; every XP DEUS II 9 in WSA ST bundle we sell is new, sourced through XP's authorized US distributor, and carries the full 5-year XP warranty. If you find this configuration advertised for less by another authorized dealer, contact us with the competitor's current listing so we can verify it.

What software version does the DEUS II run, and how do I update it?

The current DEUS II software is V4.1 (XP's update page, checked October 2026). Updates install over USB through XP's online updater, and the remote and the headphones must be on the same version or the headphones will not connect. V4.1 brought the Multi-Process refinements, MI-6 pinpointer audio options and improved wireless reliability.
