Why this package

This is the full-boat DEUS II with the 13x11 in (34x28 cm) elliptical FMF search coil: the widest path and the deepest reach on large targets in the DEUS II line. Big farm fields, wide beach flats and battlefield acreage go faster when every swing covers more ground, and deep-settled targets like artillery fragments and cache-sized iron come into range. FMF Fast Multi Frequency runs 4 to 45 kHz simultaneously, with 49 single frequencies when you want to lock one in for a noisy site. The WS6 ST headset earns the "stereo" in its name by running XP's Multi-Process two-channel audio, and its master mode means it can run the entire detector by itself: coil control, settings and target ID on its own screen. Buy one detector, own a backup controller. Why the 13x11 in coil

Coil size is a question about your sites, not about the detector. The 13x11 in (34x28 cm) elliptical coil is the coverage and depth size: a wider footprint means fewer passes to clear a field, and the larger windings reach deeper on big targets, which is where plow-scattered buckles, breastplates, shell fragments and cache pots live. On a clean plowed field, a pasture permission or an open beach flat it is the fastest way to find out what the ground holds. What you give up is separation: with more ground under the coil at once, a thin coin lying beside a nail is more likely to be averaged into the iron, and the 570 g (20.1 oz) coil is the heaviest of the three. If your best permissions are old homesites, parks, woods and trashy relic camps, the 9 in WS6 ST package is the precision pick; if you hunt a mix of both, the 11 in WS6 ST package splits the difference. If your ground runs to the tree line, this is the coil.

Stereo changes the hunt: the ST generation vs the discontinued non-ST WS6

The non-ST WS6 and WSA II headphones are discontinued. A DEUS II package that lists them is the previous generation, and it cannot do what this one does: Multi-Process, XP's two-channel stereo audio, runs only on the ST headsets. The remote processes two detection channels at the same time and sends one to each ear. Multi-Reactivity runs two different Reactivity settings at once, deep-and-slow in one channel and fast target separation in the other, so you no longer trade depth for separation. In field terms, it is like covering the same ground twice with one swing. The older headphones will never run these features; XP built Multi-Process for the ST generation. At this level of the hobby, buy the current machine once.

DUAL AXIS: motion discrimination in one ear, a non-motion channel in the other. DUAL AXIS is one of the Multi-Process factory presets. One ear runs your discrimination program while the other runs a non-motion channel that holds a target tone without sweep motion, which is how you size a large, deep target or trace an outline before you dig. On the biggest coil in the FMF line that makes this the deepest-reaching combination in the DEUS II family for cache-sized iron and artillery fragments. XP's own Firmware 4.1 video walks through it.

Multi-Process and Audio Morphing (software V4). Multi-Reactivity runs a fast, trash-separating profile in one ear and a deep, slow profile in the other. Audio Morphing shifts the tone character as the search coil closes in on a target, so you read depth and proximity by ear without looking at the screen.

Technical specifications and what they mean in the field

Weight transparency: XP publishes component weights only (coil 570 g / 20.1 oz, S-Telescopic stem 370 g / 13.1 oz, remote 150 g / 5.3 oz), not an assembled total for this configuration. Ours is calculated: our own scale puts a complete remote-and-stem assembly at about 650 g on two other DEUS II configurations, and XP lists this coil at 570 g. Total: approximately 2.69 lb (1,220 g).

Compatibility

• Search coils: 13x11 in (34x28 cm) FMF (included), 9 in (22.5 cm) FMF, 11 in (28 cm) FMF, HF2 elliptical 9.5 x 5 in (24 x 13 cm). All pair wirelessly with the remote and with the WS6 ST module.

Is this the current WS6 ST stereo package, and how is it different from the older WS6 pack?

Yes. This is XP's current-generation package with the WS6 ST stereo headphones. The non-ST WS6 and WSA II headphones are discontinued, and a DEUS II package that lists them is the previous generation: those headsets cannot run Multi-Process, the two-channel stereo audio that is the biggest change XP has made to the DEUS II. The WS6 ST also has a 64x64 pixel graphic screen and its own controls, so it doubles as a backup controller. Who should choose the 13x11 in (34x28 cm) coil over the 9 in (22.5 cm) or 11 in (28 cm)?

Detectorists covering open ground: large farm fields, pasture permissions, wide beach flats and battlefield acreage. The 13x11 in (34x28 cm) elliptical coil sweeps the widest path in the DEUS II FMF line and reaches deepest on large targets, so every pass covers more ground and deep-settled relics come into range. It is not the pick for trashy, iron-heavy or tight sites: there the 9 in (22.5 cm) coil separates targets better and fits between obstacles, and the 11 in (28 cm) coil is the all-round balance of coverage and separation. All three coils fit the same remote, so you can add a second size later.

Can the WS6 ST headphones run the detector without the remote control?

Yes. The WS6 ST module can become the master in place of the remote: in that mode it controls the search coil, adjusts the settings and shows target ID on its own 64x64 pixel screen, with virtually all the controls of the remote. Run the remote as your primary controller and keep the WS6 ST as the spare brain, or hunt with the WS6 ST alone for the lightest setup. If the remote ever stays home or fails in the field, the hunt continues.

What is Multi-Process, and do I need stereo headphones to hear it?

Multi-Process is XP's two-channel stereo audio for the DEUS II, and it runs only on an ST stereo headset such as the WS6 ST. The remote processes two detection channels at once and sends one to each ear: Multi-Reactivity pairs a low-reactivity channel that reaches for deep targets with a high-reactivity channel that picks small non-ferrous targets out of the iron, in the same sweep. Audio Morphing and Chorus FX blend the tones as you approach a target, and the DUAL AXIS factory preset pairs a classic motion channel with a non-motion channel. You must wear both ear cups: through a speaker or one ear you will not hear the second channel. Multi-Process arrived with DEUS II software V4.0 and the current version is V4.1 (XP's update page, checked October 2026); the remote and the headphones must run the same version.

Is this package waterproof?

The detector is. The DEUS II remote control and the 13x11 in (34x28 cm) search coil are IP68 rated and submersible to 20 m (66 ft); XP's optional aerial antenna is required when the coil is submerged. The WS6 ST headphones are weatherproof for rain, wind and beach spray but are not made for submersion. For diving, XP's BH-01 bone conduction headphones are IP68 to 20 m (66 ft) and wire to the remote.

How much does this detector weigh?

This is the largest and heaviest coil in the FMF line; the 9 in (22.5 cm) coil is 345 g (12.2 oz) and the 11 in (28 cm) coil 470 g (16.6 oz).

Will my DEUS I coils or headphones work with this DEUS II, and does this gear fit the XP ICON?

DEUS I gear does not cross over: X35 and HF coils, WS4 and WS5 headphones and ORX parts are DEUS I products and never pair with the DEUS II. The DEUS II takes XP's FMF coils in 9 in (22.5 cm), 11 in (28 cm) and 13x11 in (34x28 cm), the HF2 elliptical coil, and the current ST headphones (WS6 ST, WSA ST, WSA XL ST). It does work the other way with XP's ICON: the DEUS II FMF coils and the ST headphones also fit the ICON and ICON X, while the ICON's own coil is ICON-only.

Can the XP DEUS II with the 13x11 in coil find gold?

Yes. Gold rings and jewelry are everyday work for the DEUS II in any program, and for prospecting every DEUS II carries GOLD FIELD as factory program 8, reaching 40 kHz on FMF coils for small gold in mineralized ground. The 13x11 in (34x28 cm) coil in this package is the coverage choice, at its best sweeping fields and beaches for deep coins and relics; tiny nuggets favor a small, high-frequency coil. When prospecting is the main event, the DEUS II Gold package with the HF2 elliptical coil reaches 9 to 120 kHz, and the HF2 coil can be added to this remote later.
